Simple curiosity may inspire you to learn more about the history and characteristics of your dog’s breed. But in the process, you may also gain some important insight into your dog’s behavior.
For example, some breeds tend to have a high prey drive and may need a lot of exercise. Others are especially timid. Each dog is an individual, but knowing the temperament of your particular pet’s breed will help you recognize patterns of behavior. It may even help you take a more proactive approach to training your dog.
There are other benefits, too, such as a better grasp of your dog’s dietary, exercise, and even grooming needs. So get online or crack open a book—you and fido will both reap the rewards of your research.
